Cagayan de Oro logs 1 new Covid-19 case, 5 recoveries

A LOCALLY stranded individual (LSI) has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City to 170.

The patient is a 36-year-old male LSI from Laguna and a resident of Barangay Tablon. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 17 via plane. He was immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival.

According to City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, the result of the man's first swab came out negative, but his quarantine period was extended after his two roommates tested positive for the virus.

He was swabbed again on August 4 and the result came out positive on August 5.

At present, the 36-year-old man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office has also recorded five new Covid-19 recovered patients, three of whom are LSIs and two are returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs).

This brought the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the city to 105.

Those who have recovered from the disease are: a 23-year-old female LSI from Lapu-Lapu City and a resident of Barangay Bonbon; a 27-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Gusa; a five-year-old male LSI from Puerto Galera, Mindoro and a resident of Barangay Camaman-an (child of the 102nd case, a 28-year-old male LSI); a 35-year-old male LSI from Bulacan and a resident of Barangay Bugo; and a 32-year-old male ROF and a resident of Barangay Macasandig.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said the 105 total recoveries constituted 61.71 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in the city.

At present, Cagayan de Oro City has 58 active cases, of which 53 are ROFs/LSIs and five are local cases.
