Campaign vs health protocol violators intensified

THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has been ordered to further strengthen the enforcement of quarantine guidelines and other health protocols in light of the soaring cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar issued the directive during the joint virtual meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2020.

The City Health Office reported that as of August 4, the confirmed Covid-19 cases in this city have soared to 655, out of which 288 are active cases, 346 are recovered patients while 21 are mortalities.

Salazar lamented that some people continue to ignore health protocols unmindful of their safety and that of the members of their families.

The ZCPO, through its 11 Police Stations and its other operating units, has launched anti-Covid-19 protocol violators averaging 200 to 300 apprehensions daily.

Salazar, who chairs the CPOC and Cadac, said law enforcers should double if not triple efforts to ensure that residents strictly comply with quarantine rules and minimum health standards and help reduce transmission of the virus. (SunStar Zamboanga)
