431 entreps in Binalbagan, Escalante get DTI services

FOUR hundred thirty-one more entrepreneurs in Binalabagan town and Escalante City have availed themselves of the services of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB).

On Wednesday, August 5, 243 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan town participated in the LSP-NSB activity.

Of the number, 92 have availed themselves of the mobile business name registration service of the agency.

Other participating-entrepreneurs also attended the orientation on the programs and services of the DTI, consumer rights, entrepreneurial mindset, business planning and minimum health protocols.

Engiemar Tupas, officer-in-charge industry division chief of DTI-Negros Occidental, said this is "biggest Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay ever in terms of the number of attendees."

In Escalante City, Tupas said at least 188 micro enterprises of Barangay Jonobjonob attended the activity Thursday, August 6.

Most of them are sari-sari store owners and into fish and vegetable trading as well as rice retailing, he said, adding that 22 availed mobile business name registration.

Earlier this week, 124 MSMEs in Isabela also availed themselves of the agency's program.

Of the number, 94 are entrepreneurs from the town's Barangay Libas and 30 from Barangay Camp Clark.

DTI-Negros Occidental kicked off the implementation of LSP-NSB in Barangay Rizal in San Carlos City last week, initially benefiting about 100 existing entrepreneurs.

Other recipient-barangays in the province targeted this year include Bagong Silang in Salvador Benedicto, Poblacion in Toboso, Vito in Sagay City, Poblacion in Manapla, Lag-asan in Bago City, Montilla in Moises Padilla, Cabacungan in La Castellana, Buenavista in Himamaylan City and another barangay in Calatrava.

The LSP-NSB is a program of the DTI that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships with local government units (LGUs).

Under which, priority assistance shall be given to MSMEs affected by natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters arising from epidemics and pandemics.

The LSP-NSB aims to increase the awareness and engagement of barangay officials about the services offered by the DTI through the Negosyo Centers.
