Cagayan de Oro records 5 new Covid-19 cases, 2 retagged cases

CAGAYAN de Oro has logged five new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, four of whom are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and one is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF), City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Friday, August 7, 2020.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 175.

Retuya said all of the new Covid-positive patients are staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility at present.

The 171st case is a 28-year-old female LSI from Quezon City and a resident of Barangay Lapasan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 31 via plane and was swabbed on August 5. The result came out positive on August 6.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 172nd case is a 29-year-old male LSI from Dasmariñas, Cavite and a resident of Barangay Agusan. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 30 via plane.

The man was swabbed on August 5 and the result came out positive on August 6. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 173rd case is a 30-year-old male LSI from Dasmariñas, Cavite and a resident of Barangay Tablon. He went through a rapid diagnostic test on July 24 and the result was negative.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 30 via plane. He was swabbed on August 5 and the result came out positive on August 6.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 174th case is a 46-year-old male ROF from China and a resident of Barangay Macasandig. He arrived in Manila via sea travel on July 18.

Retuya said he stayed in a hotel in Makati. He was swabbed on July 19 and the result came out negative on July 21.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 30 and was swabbed on August 5. The result came out positive on August 6.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office has identified three close contacts of the man.

The 175th case is a 22-year-old male LSI from Malabon and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. He went through a rapid diagnostic test in Manila on July 23 and the result was negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on July 31. He was swabbed on August 5 and the result came out positive on August 6.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

Meanwhile, the City Health Office has also recorded two retagged cases, both of them are in Cagayan de Oro due to work, Retuya said.

Retuya further said that both of the cases experienced mild symptoms and are scheduled to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The first retagged case is a 27-year-old male from Bicol. He went through a rapid diagnostic test in Manila on July 27 and the result was negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 31 and was swabbed on August 5. The result came out positive on August 6. The man has no known comorbidity.

The second retagged case is a 56-year-old male from Quezon City. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on July 31. He was swabbed on August 5 and the result came out positive on August 6.

At present, Cagayan de Oro has 55 active cases, of which five are outpatients and 50 are ROFs/LSIs.
