CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Holy Cross College (HCC) in Sta. Ana town in Pampanga signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Department of Education (DepEd) for the opening of classes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The partnership will benefit 12 public elementary schools in the town under the HCC’s School with a Heart program.

HCC president Dennis Pangan said the initiative aims to set aside competition by helping public schools and reaching more students via the Heart Cloud.

“We at the HCC are always ready to help out as we believe that this is not a time for competition, and that sharing makes wonders. If we share what we have then everybody would have enough,” Pangan said.

He added that this project is in adherence to the school’s core value of charity, by reaching out to more students especially during this time of pandemic

“In the middle of the pandemic, HCC stays true to its mandate to give quality and accessible education for all. The school did not stop to help the community in pursuit of our core value which is Caritas,” the school head said.

Under the agreement, HCC will train teachers and students of the school beneficiaries on the features of its e-Learning Management System (LMS) to fully equip them in the new normal in education before the opening of classes.

In addition, five subjects including Mathematics, Science, English, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan, will be integrated in the e-LMS, so that Grade 6 students can utilize the system for their studies.

For her part, Public Schools of Santa Ana Supervisor Edna Pineda thanked HCC for extending help to the public schools in the town.

“This partnership will help the schools build a better relationship. In turn, we ask our teachers to work together to produce the best modules and best teaching practices to better serve the students,”Pineda said.

Meanwhile, Santa Ana Elementary School Principal Fe Macalino expressed excitement for this collaboration under the new normal.

“I am happy with the collaboration because imagine, public and private schools will be working together. As we always say, our main objective is to teach children, and I believe that two heads are better than one in achieving our goal," she said. (PR)
