Guv urges people to pray for province's progress

NEGROS Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco reminded everyone to reflect on the real meaning of the sacrifices of Jesus Christ in observation of the Lenten season.

"Let's pray for progress in Negros," Zayco also said after reminding every one to pray for a peaceful election on May 10.

Zayco said, Lenten and the real meaning of the Lord's crucifixion is supposed to be applied in our daily living so that love and unity will govern us. He said he will spend his Holy Week in his hometown in Kabankalan City.

Sagay City mayor and gubernatorial candidate Alfredo Marañon, meanwhile said, he will do his yearly ritual every Lenten in a place in Bacolod to solemnly pray and reflect the meaning of Christ’s sacrifices.

Maranon also welcomes tourists and travelers who would like to spend their Lenten in Sagay City.

He said they have assigned employees that will attend to the tourists, who usually go to Carbine Reef, Balay Kauswagan and river cruise at the Himoga-an River.

Former Presidential spokesman, Dr. Anthony Golez, who is one of the aspirants for congressman at the lone district of Bacolod said he will stay in the city and would visit different churches with his wife Princess Soraya and their daughter.

Congressional aspirant Ricardo Tan said he will do his yearly ritual joining the “via crucis” up to Barangay Punta Taytay with his wife Nita and their son Shottie. (Teresa Ellera Dulla)
