CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Cities San Fernando and neighboring Angeles now have the most number of active and confirmed coronavirus cases in Pampanga.
According to an August 8 bulletin by its City Information Office, the City of San Fernando had recorded 146 confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic with 95 of which are still active as of this posting.
The city currently has the most number of active and confirmed coronavirus cases in the whole of Pampanga, eclipsing even the total number of cases in the third district.
Angeles City reported some 105 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. With 43 recoveries and six deaths, the city still has 56 active cases as of August 8.
The two cities’ strategic and economic importance along with the dense population and a considerable number of transient workers have all contributed to the increase in the number of cases.
A considerable number of confirmed cases were also recorded in towns like Minalin (28), Apalit (35), Sasmuan (17), Mabalacat City (17), Lubao (17), Mexico (16) and Guagua (12).
The spike in new cases has slowed in Pampanga’s fourth district, while a considerable number of cases have been recorded in the third and second districts.
