San Carlos starts training in cookery, welding

THE City Government of San Carlos, through its Public Employment Service Office (Peso) in coordination with the Technological Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), inducted the training program for Cookery NCII and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC1 Monday, August 10, 2020, at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Livelihood and Skills Training Center in Barangay 3.

Erel E. Lim, Peso in-charge, said that the cookery training requires 316 hours for participants while the SMAW needs 35 to 40 days of training for the two batches of 40 participants for welding and 50 for cookery.

Lim cited that Peso and Tesda will also help in job placement of individuals, especially when the need in a particular industry arises.

Beverly Insular, acting provincial director of Tesda, was thankful to the San Carlos-LGU for its constant strong support to activities provided by Tesda and Peso.

She added that empowering the community, especially during this time of the pandemic, is very important to make the people productive and not idle as well as generate a pool of skilled workers later on.

Barangay 3 Punong Barangay Laurito Dela Rita also encouraged beneficiaries of said training to learn everything since the skills provided to them are sought-after especially abroad and that a lot of opportunities are waiting for them after the pandemic. (PR)
