Bacolod cop tests positive for Covid-19

A POLICEMAN assigned at the Mobile Patrol Unit of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Monday, August 10, 2020, a policeman, who was assigned in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago Compact, went to Iloilo City on August 3 where he underwent a swab test.

He said the positive test result was released on August 6. The policeman, who is asymptomatic, is now under home quarantine.

Pico added about 50 BCPO personnel also underwent swab testing on Friday.

He reminded all policemen to observe basic health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.

The BCPO personnel were already mandated to wear face masks and face shields while on duty.

Meanwhile, 79 persons in Bacolod City were arrested by BCPO for violating curfew hours on Sunday.

Pico said the violators were arrested by Police Stations 1 to 10 in various areas of the city for violating curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The violators were given a warning and were released.
