CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella has ordered the release of three months’ worth of financial assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The distribution will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020.
Close to 12,000 PWDs will each receive P3,000 for the months of April, May and June.
The City did not include them when it distributed P2,000 each to more than 80,000 senior citizens back in June.
“We will turn over the financial assistance to the PWDs. We will go to their houses and deliver the cash with the help of barangay officials on Saturday,” Labella said in Cebuano.
The mayor apologized for the delay, saying the City has had its hands full trying to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
Labella said the distribution might take five days, adding that disbursing officers will be in charge of the house-to-house distribution
He called on PWDs to post their names outside their homes and to have a pen ready when they sign for the financial assistance.
He also reminded them to wear a mask.
PWDs are granted P3,000 in financial aid quarterly as provided under City Ordinance 2456.
When the City is done with the activity, it will start preparing the financial assistance for senior citizens for the months of July and August. (PAC / PJB)
