Mayor asks Angeles folks to support fight vs Covid-19

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has asked his constituents to support the local government's effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city.

This, as the mayor said the City Health Office has already recorded 115 cases as of August 10.

At present, there are 66 active Covid-19 cases, according to the local chief executive.

Of the 115 cases, 43 patients had recovered, Lazatin said.

The City Government recently launched a digital contact tracing application dubbed staysafe.ph.

The program will allow the local government to quickly identify the close contacts of Covid-19 patients and suspected patients, the mayor said.

He reiterated that many people living in the city are disobeying the health safety guidelines being enforced by the local government to prevent the spread of the virus.

With the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the locality, the mayor said the City Government assured that hospital in the city are prepared to admit patients.

The mayor is urging jeepney drivers and commuters to start wearing face shield pursuant to the guidelines set by the Department of Transportation.

Lazatin said the City Government had apprehended in one week more than 200 individuals who violated City Ordinance 546, which requires all residents to wear face masks in public places.

Anggat e ya mimiral ing disiplina yu e tamu talaga salese," the mayor said.

He asked barangay leaders to support the city by enforcing health protocols against Covid-19.

Luid ya ing siyudad ning Angeles," Lazatin said.
