Cagayan de Oro records 9 new Covid-19 cases

CAGAYAN de Oro has recorded nine new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases involving four locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and five returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs), City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Tuesday, August 11.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 189.

All of them are currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility, Retuya said.

The 181st case is a 26-year-old female LSI from Consolacion, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Indahag. She arrived via sea travel in Cagayan de Oro on August 1.

She was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10. The woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 182nd case is a 34-year-old female LSI from Valenzuela City and a resident of Barangay 17. She arrived via sea travel in Cagayan de Oro on August 1.

She was swabbed on August 6, but Retuya said her swab test result was invalid. She was swabbed again on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

The woman had colds and headache, which were treated. She has no known comorbidity.

The 183rd case is a 28-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Puntod. He arrived in NAIA on July 26 where he was swabbed. The result came out negative on August 2.

Retuya said the man stayed in a hotel in Pasay City while waiting for the result of his swab test.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 4 via plane. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive August 10.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 184th case is a 26-year-old male LSI from San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He underwent the rapid diagnostic test in Cebu on July 17 and was also swabbed on the same day. The result of both of the tests were negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 4. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

The man is asymptomatic but has food allergies. His close contact, Retuya said, is the 185th case.

The 185th case is a 26-year-old male LSI from San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He underwent the rapid diagnostic test on July 15 and was swabbed on the same day. The result of both of the tests are negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 4. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. His close contact is the 184th case, who was a co-passenger.

The 186th case is a 34-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Tablon. He arrived in NAIA on July 25 where he was swabbed and the result came out negative on August 1.

Retuya said the man stayed in a hotel in Pasay City while waiting for the result of his swab test from July 25 to August 3.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 4 and was swabbed on August 8. The result came out positive on August 10.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 187th case is a 29-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Bulua. He arrived in NAIA on July 28 where he was swabbed and the result came out negative on August 3.

The man stayed in a cooperative house in Ermita, Manila from July 28 to August 3.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 4. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

The 29-year-old man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 188th case is a 39-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Indahag. He arrived in NAIA on July 25 and was swabbed on the same day. The result came out negative on August 2.

The man stayed in a hotel in Pasay City from July 25 to August 3. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 4. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 189th case is a 34-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Bugo. He arrived in NAIA on July 30 where he was swabbed and the result was negative on August 2.

The man stayed in a hotel in Makati while waiting for the result, Retuya said.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 4. He was swabbed on August 8 and the result came out positive on August 10.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said Cagayan de Oro has registered 67 active cases, of which five are outpatients and 62 are ROFs/LSIs.
