E.B. Magalona mayor on Covid-19 infection: No cause for panic

"NO CAUSE for panic."

This was the message of E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon to Saraviahanon's Tuesday, August 11, 2020, after news that he was infected with coronavirus broke out.

The message was relayed by lawyer Ariel Malunes, Malacon's counsel.

"The mayor confirms that he is positive for Covid-19. He and his immediate family are now in a private hospital in Bacolod City," Malunes said.

He said the people of E.B. Magalona should not be alarmed as the mayor "feel okay right now."

When he felt that he was not feeling well, he submitted himself to home quarantine and when the tests came out, he and his immediate family were admitted to a hospital, Malunes pointed out.

Malunes added that Malacon believes that he got infected by the virus in Bacolod City.

"Every weekend his family eats in Bacolod City so it's not local transmission in E.B. Magalona," he said.

Vice Mayor Eric Matulac is now the acting mayor of the town after Malacon went on sick leave.
