ANGELES CITY --- Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. said the local government prohibits gatherings including birthday parties, wedding receptions, barangay fiesta, concerts and other entertainment activities due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the city.

The mayor said this is pursuant to City Ordinance Number 546 Series of 2020.

Any person, group and establishments caught violating the ordinance will be fined and penalized after due conviction and discretion of the court, according to Lazatin.

For the past three days, the City Government recorded 14 new cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases to 143, according to Lazatin.

"Sa nakalipas na talong araw ay nagkaroon po tayo ng 14 positibong kaso ng Covid-19," the mayor said.

At present, there are 74 active Covid-19 cases, with eight deaths and 61 recoveries.

Of the 143 cases, 67 were transmitted inside Angeles and seven were acquired outside the city.

Checkpoints are strictly manned by police personnel and the face mask policy is being enforced, the mayor said.

"Mahigpit pa rin po ang pagbabantay sa mga checkpoints papasok sa siyudad pati na rin sa mga control points ng 33 barangays lalo na sa pagpapatupad natin sa no face mask policy," Lazatin said.

He appealed to the residents to stay at home and always observe social distancing while in public places to avoid Covid-19 infection.
