Barangay kagawad nabbed over 'shabu' in Biliran

A 47-YEAR-OLD barangay kagawad was arrested in a joint buy-bust operation in Kawayan, Biliran on Friday, August 14, 2020.

Police identified the suspect as James Cabe, married, high-value target, and kagawad of Barangay Masagaosao in Kawayan town.

He was arrested around 11 a.m. of August 14 in Barangay Tabunan-North of the said town by operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)- Eastern Visayas and Kawayan Municipal Police led by Lieutenant Ismael Corzon Jr.

Confiscated from the suspect were two pieces small heat-sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu marked as MDR-BB1 and MDR-BB2 with date and signature as subject for sale.

Also, one piece medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu weighing MOL 8 grams with estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P40,000 and marked as MDR-PI with date and signature as subject of possession; one piece P1,000 bill marked as buy-bust money with serial number A2877553; one piece P1,000 boodle money; and one unit red Suzuki pick-up.

The search was conducted in the presence of barangay officials and representatives from the media and Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, police said in a report.

The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
