Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 206

FIVE returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs) and four locally stranded individuals (LSIs) tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 over the weekend.

This brought the total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city to 206.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said the nine new Covid-19 cases were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival. All of them are currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 198th case is a 13-year-old female LSI from Bohol. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 9 and was swabbed on August 14. The result came out positive on August 15.

The young woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office identified one close contact of the girl, who was her mother. Her mother tested negative for the virus and is currently staying in the city isolation unit.

The 199th case is an eight-year-old female LSI from Davao City and a resident of Barangay Patag. Retuya said she traveled by land via a private vehicle and arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 9.

She was swabbed on August 14 and the result August 15. She is asymptomatic, but she is asthmatic and has allergies.

The City Health Office identified a close contact of the girl -- her mother.

The 200th case is a 54-year-old male ROF from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a resident of Barangay Macasandig. According to Retuya, she was swabbed in Saudi Arabia on May 25 and the result came out positive.

The patient was admitted in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. From May 27 to 30, the man was under a coma, Retuya said.

The man was discharged on June 21. He was swabbed again on July 18 still in Saudi Arabia and the result was positive.

He arrived in NAIA on July 23 and was swabbed upon arrival and the result came out positive.

Retuya said the 54-year-old man stayed in a hotel in Bonifacio Global City. On August 1, he was swabbed again and the result was positive on August 8. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 9 via plane. He was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15.

The 54-year-old man is asymptomatic and has hypertension and diabetes mellitus.

The 201st case is a 38-year-old female ROF United Arab Emirates and a resident of Barangay Mambuaya. She arrived in NAIA on August 3 where she was swabbed and the result was negative.

Retuya said the patient stayed in a hotel in Quezon City for five days. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 8.

The woman was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 202nd case is a 31-year-old female ROF from the United Arab Emirates and a resident of Barangay Cugman. She arrived in NAIA on July 30 where he was swabbed and the result was negative.

She stayed in a hotel in Quezon City for eight to nine days. The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 8 and was swabbed on August 14. The result came out positive on August 15.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office identified one close contact of the woman.

The 203rd case is a 35-year-old female LSI from Cebu City and a resident of Barangay Agusan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 9.

She was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15. The woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 204th case is a 44-year-old male ROF from Kuwait and a resident of Barangay Lumbia. He arrived in NAIA on July 25 where he was swabbed and the result came out negative after 10 days.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 9. He was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 205th case is a 21-year-old male LSI from Cebu City and a resident of Barangay Agusan. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 9 via plane.

He was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 206th case is a 29-year-old female ROF from the United Arab Emirates and a resident of Barangay Tablon. Retuya said she was first swabbed in the UAE on July 28 and the result was negative.

She arrived in NAIA on July 30 where he was swabbed and the result also came out negative. She stayed in a hotel while waiting for the result of her swab test.

The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 9. She was swabbed on August 14 and the result came out positive on August 15.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said Cagayan de Oro recorded 62 active cases, of which four are outpatients and 58 are ROFs/LSIs.
