WE HAVE observed that in these uncertain times of danger, deprivation and even death, communities have risen up in help and support to ease the pain of the most vulnerable.

This is where the “Shangri-La Cares” promise comes in.

The Shangri-La Group of worldwide hotels has partnered with Diversey, a leading global hygiene and cleaning company to provide the most vulnerable members of society with face masks, a must-wear item in this country.

In tandem with sister hotels in Manila, Colombo, Hambantota, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Surabaya, Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok and Yangon, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa is participating in the Diversey Linens for Life Face Masks (L4LFM) program.

L4LFM has donated sufficient linen to produce 10,000 reusable face masks for needy communities in Cebu. Teachers, parents and individuals belonging to the Gilutongan Island barangay community have initiated to kick-off the program and make 3,000 of the reusable cloth masks which will be distributed to island residents, as well as barangays in mainland Cebu.

Aside from Diversey, the Hotel Group has collaborated with the Municipality of Cordova, and some non-governmental organizations, to further its reach, and access more needy areas. John Rice, vice president for operations in the PH said: “We’re deeply committed to help in as many ways as we can. This pandemic has affected all of us, and this initiative offers some protection from Covid-19.”

Likewise, Mary Therese Sitoy-Cho, Cordova Mayor, and Teri Betito, country business director-Diversey Phils., both reiterate their full support for this well-timed project, which will promote not only protection and hygiene from the virus, but generate a source of income for some.

With hygiene and safety as top priority, the Shangri-La Group recently introduced “Shangri-La Cares,” a commitment reinforcing the Group’s efforts to caring for people as it welcomes back guests to its hotels and resorts.

We are for you and with you, Shang. Keep it up!
