Oro records 3 new Covid-19 cases, 5 recoveries

CAGAYAN de Oro has recorded three new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases involving two returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs) and a local authorized person outside residence (Apor), City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported Friday, August 21.

This brought the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 235.

Retuya said the two ROFs were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival.

The 233rd case is a 28-year-old male ROF who worked as a seafarer. He arrived in Manila Port on August 3 and was swabbed on August 4. He stayed in a hotel in Mandaluyong while waiting for the result of his swab test, which was negative.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 13. Retuya said he had colds from August 17 to 18.

He was swabbed on August 18 and the result came out positive on August 20.

At present, the 28-year-old man is asymptomatic and is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 234th case is a 26-year-old female ROF from Asia. She arrived in Manila on August 4 and was swabbed upon arrival. She stayed in an apartment in Las Piñas while waiting for the result of her swab test, which was negative.

The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 13. She was swabbed on August 18 and the result came out positive on August 20.

The 26-year-old woman is asymptomatic and is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 235th case is a 40-year-old female Apor, a resident of a gated community in Barangay Lumbia.

According to Retuya, the woman showed flu-like symptoms on August 13, had loss of taste on August 17 and had anosmia or loss of smell on August 18.

She was swabbed on August 19 and the result came out positive on August 20. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The woman is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified six close contacts of the 40-year-old woman: four are household contacts and two are workplace contacts.

An additional 15 close contacts were also identified, all are for verification.

Cagayan de Oro has also registered five new Covid-19 patients who were tagged as "recovered" after their repeat swab test result came out negative on August 20.

This brought the number of recovered Covid-19 patients in the city to 150.

Those who have recovered are a 28-year-old male locally stranded individual (LSI) from Puerto Galera, Mindoro and a resident of Barangay Camaman-an; a 48-year-old male Apor, a resident of Barangay Macasandig; a 50-year-old female local case resident of Barangay Macasandig; a 21-year-old male local case resident of Barangay Macasandig; and a 30-year-old female local case resident of a gated community in Barangay Iponan.

At present, Cagayan de Oro has 76 active cases, one of whom is admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, six are outpatients and 69 are ROFs/LSIs.
