ANGELES CITY -- The City Government has acquired modular tents to augment the capacity of private hospital and government facilities in accommodating Covid-19 patients.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. said hospitals in the city have reached their full capacity and can no longer accept a big volume of patients in the following days.

The modular tents will be deployed to the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center and City College of Angeles, which serve as quarantine facilities for Covid-19 patients and their relatives, according to the mayor.

The acquisition of modular units will address the problem of hospitals in the city, the local chief executive added.

The mayor at the same time thanked the city's health workers and other frontliners for their sacrifices to help other people, particularly the Covid-19 patients and their relatives.

The official assured that the City Government will extend full support to all frontliners.

The mayor said he recently directed the Local Finance Committee on the immediate computation of the frontline workers' special risk allowance.

Frontliners are provided free food, shelter and regular swab testing while they work in Covid-19 wards, the mayor said.

The City Government has recorded a total of 219 Covid-19 cases, as of August 21, 2020, with 12 deaths and 81 recovered patients.
