Solon: What fitness professionals can do during the pandemic

THE Covid-19 pandemic has turned the fitness industry upside-down.

Fitness is not what we know it to be anymore. The World Health Organization does not recommend doing indoor fitness activities at the moment, so professionals are challenged to move the fitness practice into the online domain.

Here are some tips for those working in the fitness industry:

Go online. This is one of the safer ways to work with our clients and it is efficient, too. We do not have to travel anymore, and we can work in the comforts of our own homes.

Learn and study. With the time we have on our hands, fitness professionals have ample time to brush up on previous knowledge as well as acquire new learning. It’s always good to learn new things even if it is not within our scope of work.

Train efficiently. This can also be a time to experiment on our exercise programs and see what works and what we can improve upon. A popular strength coach opened up to me that by tweaking his eating habits, and by working out as little as 20 minutes, three times a week, he was able to bring down his body fat percentage from nine to six percent in a span of three months. While we think working out is hard work, we should also keep in mind to go about it in a smarter manner.

Like all the challenges that have befallen each generation before us, this too shall pass. Heads up, fitness folks. We will all get through this.
