Tiukinhoy midayeg sa coaches sa Cebu

GIDAYEG ni Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Commissioner Felix “Boy” Tiukinhoy Jr. ang local coaches kay bisan sa kakuwang sa pundo, padayon kining nakaumol og dekalidad nga mga basketbolista.

Gisulti kini ni Tiukinhoy sa bag-ong episode sa Cesafi Webinar Series diin anaa si University of the Philippines men’s basketball coach Bo Perasol, defending men’s Cesafi champion Southwestern University head coach Mike Reyes ug hosts nga sila Pio Solon ug Paulo Agir.

“I’m very happy that despite (the limited resources), our coaches in Cesafi have been able to develop the best players that they can develop who are even recruited to play in the UAAP and the NCAA in Manila,” batbat ni Tiukinhoy.

Sa Webinar Series, gisugid ni Perasol ang basketball program nga gibuhat sa University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons lakip na ang mga lakang aron makabalik isip contending team sa UAAP.

Si Tiukinhoy miingon nga dalaygon ang mga programa sa Fighting Maroons apan wala kini sa Sugbo kay limitado lang ang budget sa sports program sa mga tunghaan.

Siya midugang nga kasagaran sa mga eskuwelahan nagsalig lang sa athletics fees para sa ilang sports program.

“We don’t have that program here mainly because we don’t have that much alumni support. One school that gets a huge support from the alumni is the University of San Carlos. The others rely mainly on athletics fees,” matod ni Tiukinhoy.

Si Tiukinhoy miklaro nga dili siya supak sa recruitment sa Manila schools kay dako kini nga oportunidad sa mga magduduwa nga makatabang sa ilang pamilya pinaagi sa ilang madawat nga mga tanyag.

Apan matod niya nga angay mosunod sa recruitment process ang mga eskuwelahan.

“Personally I’m not against the recruitment. The only thing (for the schools), if you want to the recruit please follow the recruitment process---you talk to the current coach and from there to the current school,” matod niya.

“Mahirap lang mga players natin, hindi naman mayayaman e, so I don’t mind that they get the opportunity that’s best for them,” dugang niya.
