Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 249

SEVEN locally stranded individuals (LSIs), a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF), a local case and a local authorized person outside residence (Apor) have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 over the weekend, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro to 249.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said all of the new LSIs and ROF cases were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival.

The 240th case is a 34-year-old male ROF from America and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) on August 10 where he was swabbed.

According to Retuya, the man stayed in a hotel in Roxas Boulevard while waiting for the result of his swab test, which was negative.

He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 15 via sea travel. He was swabbed on August 20 and the result came out positive on August 22.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 241st case is a five-year-old female LSI from Lapu-Lapu, Cebu and a resident of Barangay Lapasan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel and was swabbed on August 20. The result came out positive on August 22.

The City Health Office identified two direct close contacts of the girl.

The 242nd case is a 36-year-old male local Apor and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. According to Retuya, the man is a close contact of the 210th case, a 69-year-old man resident of Zone 7 on Acacia Street, Barangay Carmen, who is one of the Covid-positive patients admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

The 36-year-old man was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying in the city isolation unit.

The City Health Office identified 22 direct contacts of the man, five of whom are household contacts and 17 are workplace contacts.

The 243rd case is a 27-year-old male LSI from Bohol and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 15 via sea travel.

The man was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 244th case is a 38-year-old female LSI from Bohol and a resident of Barangay Bugo. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 16 via sea travel.

The woman was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 245th case is a 33-year-old male LSI from Bohol and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 16.

He was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. According to Retuya, the man has a mild cough. He has no known comorbidity and is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 246th case is a 44-year-old female LSI from Bohol and a resident of Barangay Nazareth. Retuya said she is the mother and close contact of the 198th case, the 13-year-old young lady LSI from Bohol.

The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 19 via sea travel. She was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. She is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 247th case is a 36-year-old female LSI from Cebu and a resident of Barangay Gusa. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 16.

The woman was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 248th case is a 28-year-old male employee of a huge company. According to Retuya, the man had a cough on August 13 and went to a private hospital's outpatient department for consultation.

He was treated and recovered from his symptom on August 20. He was swabbed on August 18 as a requirement by the company he worked for. His swab sample was sent to the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.

The result, which came out on the evening of August 22, is positive.

The 28-year-old man is asymptomatic, at present, and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office has identified 15 direct contacts of the man, eight of whom are household contacts, five are workplace contacts and two are healthcare workers.

The 149th case is a 32-year-old female LSI from Cebu City and a resident of Barangay Bugo. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 16.

The woman was swabbed on August 21 and the result came out positive on August 23. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Cagayan de Oro has registered one recovered Covid-positive patient, a 30-year-old male LSI and a resident of Barangay Tablon, whose second swab test result came out negative on August 22.

As of August 23, Cagayan de Oro, according to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, has 83 active cases, two of whom are admitted to the NMMC, nine are outpatients and 72 are ROFs/LSIs.
