1 ROF, 5 local Apors in Oro test positive for coronavirus

SIX new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were logged in Cagayan de Oro City and one of the patients is a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) and five are local Authorized Persons Outside Residence (Apors), City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Tuesday, August 25.

The total number of confirmed cases in the city is now at 255.

The 250th case is a 30-year-old female ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Consolacion. She arrived in NAIA on August 13 where she was swabbed.

According to Retuya, the woman stayed in a hotel in Makati while waiting for the result of her swab test, which came out negative on August 17.

She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on August 17 and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit. She was swabbed on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office has identified one direct contact of the woman.

The 251st case is a 29-year-old female local Apor who is a resident of a gated community in Upper Balulang. She worked as a healthcare worker in Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

According to NMMC medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha, the woman was exposed to a Covid-positive patient from Lanao del Norte who is admitted at the said hospital. The last day of exposure was on August 17.

The 29-year-old woman is the first healthcare worker in NMMC that tested positive for the virus, Rocha said. She is currently under quarantine in the hospital.

She was swabbed on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24. She is asymptomatic. The City Health Office has identified five household contacts of the woman.

The 252nd case is a 34-year-old male local Apor residing in a gated community in Barangay Kauswagan. He has a permanent address in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro in February to work as a support staff in the city isolation unit, according to Retuya. He was exposed to the 211th Covid-positive case, the 58-year-old female resident of Barangay Balulang.

The 34-year-old man was swabbed while he was in the city isolation unit on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Retuya said his close contacts are those he lived with in a rented house in Barangay Kauswagan, all of them are in the city isolation unit.

The 253rd case is a 28-year-old male local APOR residing in a subdivision in Barangay Lumbia. Retuya said he worked in an institution in the said barangay.

He was swabbed on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24. He is currently in isolation in the barracks of the institution he worked for.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office has identified three household contacts of the man.

The 254th case is a 31-year-old male local Apor whose home address is in Upi, Maguindanao. He was assigned in Cagayan de Oro to work in an institution in Barangay Lumbia since 2015, Retuya said.

The man was swabbed on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24. He is currently in isolation in a facility of the institution he worked for. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 255th case is a 27-year-old female local APOR residing in Upper Carmen. She is a healthcare worker who was exposed to the 238th Covid-positive case, the 76-year-old woman resident of a gated community in Barangay Gusa.

Retuya said her last day of exposure was on August 19. She was swabbed on August 22 and the result came out positive on August 24.

The woman has occasional cough and sore throat, however, she has no known comorbidity. She is currently in isolation in the institution she worked for.

The City Health Office has identified 14 close contacts of the woman.

As of August 24, Cagayan de Oro has 85 active cases, two of whom are admitted at the NMMC, 14 are outpatients and 69 are ROFs/LSIs.
