“I am vengeance.”

These were some of the words that had most fans excited, uttered by the Caped Crusader in a vicious scene included in the recently released trailer for “The Batman.”

“The Batman” is a reboot telling the story of Bruce Wayne’s formative years, and his legend being the World’s Greatest Detective. The live-action film set for a 2021 release stars Robert Pattinson, most known for his work in “The Twilight Saga.”

With Ben Affleck stepping down from his Bat duties, Pattinson will be the ninth actor to play Bruce Wayne in live-action movies.

Now the question: Who’s your favorite Batman?

Here are the actors who’ve taken on the challenge of keeping peace in Gotham City. (Not including Batman in animated movies, TV series, video games or merely as a young version of Bruce Wayne).

Lewis G. Wilson (1943)

Wilson was the youngest person to take on the role. He starred as the millionaire turned detective in a 15-part Columbia serial.

Robert Lowery (1949)

Lowery starred in the next 15-part Columbia serial “New Adventures of Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder.” After this, it would take almost 20 years before the next Batman.

Adam West (1966)

West played Batman from 1966 to 1968 in a television series. Due to this, he was the star of “Batman: The Movie” released in ‘66. West’s film was also the first full-length theatrical adaptation of the character.

Michael Keaton (1989)

There was another two decades before Batman returned to the big screen. When it did, Keaton took on the role in “Batman” and the sequel “Batman Returns,” both directed by Tim Burton. These two films were the first of four of Warner Bros.’ “Batman” film series.

Val Kilmer (1995)

Kilmer wore the Batsuit for the stand-alone sequel “Batman Forever.” It was the sixth highest grossing film in the United States that year.

George Clooney (1997)

Clooney was cast to play Bruce Wayne in the fourth Warner Bros. film in its “Batman” series. The project was considered the worst of the modern Batman films.

Christian Bale (2005)

Bale was cast in the reboot “Batman Begins” almost a decade before the last Batman, and went on to star in two more installments: “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Ben Affleck (2016)

Affleck took on the duties of the Dark Knight in ”Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He also appeared in “Suicide Squad” (a cameo) and “Justice League.”

Robert Pattinson (2021)

Initially, the casting of Pattinson as Batman raised a few eyebrows. The actor is popularly known for playing Edward Cullen, a vampire in “The Twilight Saga,” a romance fantasy project. Will Pattinson live up to his calling at “Battinson?” Only time will tell.
