TALISAY City Mayor Neil Lizares III has turned over 13 units of 556 caliber Galil Assault rifles to Talisay PNP to equip the law enforcement agency in carrying out its primary duty, which is to serve and protect the residents of Talisay City.
The said assault rifles were received by OIC Chief Police Major Jigger Gimeno in a simple ceremony at the Pueblo Club House, Talisay City, on Tuesday, August 25.
This is one of the programs of the local chief executive, which is to maintain peace and order and to provide protection and security among its people.
To realize this vision, Lizares has given priority to upgrade and provide for modernization in the City Police Force in order to motivate and boost the morale of the Talisay policemen.
Aside from brand new patrol cars, service vehicles and special training for Talisay police's selected personnel for the past years, Lizares started the upgrading of the Talisay PNP weapons and firearms.
Mayor Neil Lizares believes that it is a must to maintain a peaceful and orderly city for its people to feel secured and protected from all forms of cruelty, danger or any kind of violence 24/7.
In five to six months from now, Talisay PNP will also be receiving another batch of firearms, this time its 5.56mm NATO Caliber Tavor-21 bullpup assault rifle and two sets of sniper rifles.
Gimeno also extended his gratitude to the mayor for the unwavering support he has continuously extended to all the programs and undertakings of the Talisay PNP, in return, he swore to work harder and become as good stewards of the equipment and weapons provided to them by the city and to live by their oath - to serve and to protect.
