Ex-cop, construction worker busted

A FORMER police officer and a construction worker were arrested in two separate anti-drug operations in Dagami, Leyte and Tacloban City Monday, August 24, 2020.

Police identified the suspects as Bernard Baltar, 41, ex-policeman and listed as high-value individual of Dagami Municipal Police Station, and Christian "Dodong" Clipton, 22, single, a resident of Tacloban City.

Dagami police, led by Captain Dennis Gatela, and Leyte Provincial Police Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Executive Master Sergeant Manolito Ilustre, arrested Baltar in a drug bust at 7:40 a.m. Monday in Barangay Lusad, Dagami.

Purchased from the suspect was one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu worth P500.

Confiscated from his possession were four sachets of shabu, one P500 bill used as buy-bust money, and one unit Honda TMX motorcycle.

Meanwhile, anti-drug operatives from Tacloban City Police Office-Police Station 1 led by Major Edwin CaƱamaque, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the region, nabbed Clipton at 5:25 p.m. Monday in Barangay 62-B Sagkahan.

Purchased from Clipton was one sachet of marijuana leaves and seeds.

Also confiscated from his possession were seven sachets of marijuana leaves and seeds and one P500 used as buy-bust money.

According to the police, the confiscated drug evidence from Clipton has an estimated street value of P6,500.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
