Bacolod hospitals provide 80 more beds for Covid-19 patients

AN ADDITIONAL 80 hospital beds, both from private and public hospitals in Bacolod City, will be added to accommodate the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patients in the city.

Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya stressed this Tuesday, August 25, after some hospitals in Bacolod City confirmed that they will provide additional beds to accommodate the Covid-19 patients.

Gasataya said that during their meeting with representatives from various hospitals in Bacolod and DOH on Monday, August 24, the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center (BAMC) confirmed to increase its bed capacity for Covid-19 patients from 21 to 27 beds, Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) from 60 to 97 beds, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Regional Hospital from 22 to 53 beds, South General Hospital from five to 17 beds, and Doctor's Hospital from 33 to 34 bed capacity.

He said on Sunday, August 23, he talked with DOH-Western Visayas Director Marlyn Convocar and informed her of the situation of the hospitals in the city where they have already reached full bed capacity for Covid-19 patients.

He added the DOH will also deploy additional nurses to various hospitals in the city.

On Sunday, a frontliner in Bacolod City died after no hospitals in the city could accommodate him since they already reached their full capacity due to rising Covid-19 cases in the city.

As of August 23, Bacolod City has a total of 735 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 257 have recovered, 461 are active cases, and 17 have died.
