THE second tranche of the government’s social amelioration program (SAP) amounting to P81.1 billion has been disbursed to 13.5 million beneficiaries, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Danilo Pamonag said on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

“The second tranche of the SAP, which totals to P81.1 billion had already been disbursed for the benefit of 13.5 million families or beneficiaries. This is translated to 95 percent accomplishment of the program,” Pamonag reported during the hearing of the House committee on good governance and public accountability Wednesday.

“We are optimistic that we would be able to serve all our eligible beneficiaries in due time as the necessary documentary requirements are now being processed for the subsequent transfer of funds to our beneficiaries,” he added.

The program initially covered 18 million low-income families. Each received cash ranging from ₱5,000 to ₱8,000.

An additional five million families were included among the beneficiaries.

According to Pamonag, the DSWD worked closely with the local government units, the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the distribution of the cash assistance.

“The DSWD is constantly coordinating with our LGUs, our financial service providers, the AFP, the PNP and all our partners providing many types of support in every steps we make,” he said. (SunStar Philippines)
