AS THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas (DSWD 7) continues to provide assistance to local government units (LGUs) through family food packs, it clarified that the assistance from the DSWD does not carry or endorse any office or organization.
Shalaine Lucero, DSWD 7 assistant director, said they received a report that the name of a foundation had been pasted on the DSWD box. This, she said, is now being verified and validated.
“We would like to clarify to the public, especially the families who received the food packs, that the assistance from DSWD does not carry or endorse any office or organization,” Lucero said.
“The public is requested to report to us if they know of any such circumstance,” she added.
The DSWD 7 also warned the public that selling, repacking and swapping of its contents is not allowed.
The agency said the family food packs it distributes are contained in a carton box printed with the agency’s logo, the corresponding expiry date and the “Not for sale” sign.
It has a warning that selling, buying, repacking and swapping of DSWD relief goods is a criminal offense under the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
Leah Quintana, DSWD 7 spokesperson, earlier said each of the food packs worth P500 consists of six kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, sachets of coffee and cereal drinks.
As of the morning of Aug. 25, the DSWD 7 had provided a total of 282,149 food packs worth P120,973,967.02 to at least 92 LGUs, non-government agencies and stranded and displaced workers. (WBS)
