CAPAS, Tarlac --The Provincial Government of Pampanga recently opened the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) as an additional isolation facility.

The NGAC, with a 327-bed capacity located at New Clark City (NCC) here, will be used to accommodate more Kapampangan patients who will be detected positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

This came as more Covid-19 patients are recorded in the province. As of August 29, Pampanga has registered 818 Covid-19-positive cases on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Of which, 417 are pending, 373 recovered and 28 died.

According to Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the Provincial Government rented NGAC after the Athletes Village in NCC and Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DPMMH) isolation facilities have reached their full capacity.

“This is a joint project of the Provincial Government of Pampanga with BCDA (Bases Conversion Development Authority) and Alloy MTD. Sa current situation natin, mabilis ang increase ng cases natin and ito ang mabilis na available na facility,“ the governor said.

Pineda said the community isolation facilities established by the local government units were not also enough to address the recent surge of Covid-19 patients in the province.

“Due to the recent influx of Covid-19-positive cases sa province, kinakapos tayo ng mga isolation facilities. Nag-effort naman ang mga LGUs (local government units) to set up their own community isolation facilities, but these are not enough. Kaya we are doing all possible means to keep the people healthy and safe from the threat of the virus,| he said.

Dr. Dax Tidula, incident commander of the facility, meanwhile, assured that the quarantine facility will be manned by doctors, nurses, and other personnel to assist and address the needs of patients.

“The Provincial Government will be providing for the daily needs of the patients who will be isolated here, including their food, water, vitamins, and internet connection,” Tidula said.

On top of this, the Provincial Government is also targeting to utilize the permanent evacuation center of the province in Mexico town as an additional isolation facility if Covid-19 cases continue to increase in the coming weeks. (PR)
