NAGTINGUHA ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) nga makakuha og dul-an sa P182 milyones nga pundo alang sa mga atleta nga moduwa sa labing dakong sporting meet sa tibuok kalibutan—ang Olympics.
Human mapresentar ang ilang budget alang sa mga Pinoy sa 2021 Tokyo Olympics, nagmalaumon ang PSC nga maaprubahan kini inabagan sa suporta sa Kongreso.
Misaad hinuon ang Committee on Youth and Sports Development congressmen niadtong Miyerkules sa committee regular meeting nga suportado nila ang PSC sa ilang giduso nga Tokyo Olympics 2021 budget sa House of Representative.
“We were one of those government offices who also contributed to the Bayanihan Act. The DBM (Department of Budget and Management) deducted from us. Para sa amin malaking bagay ‘yun kasi kasama doon ‘yung Olympic budget namin. Hanggang ngayon po bakante ‘yan. It’s an opportunity for us to ask, we need your help,” matod ni PSC Chairman William Ramirez.
Naapektohan sa pagpaubos sa budget sa PSC ang alang sa Olympic bound nga mga atleta.
Ang budget sa PSC gikuhaan og P596 milyones sa National Sports Development Fund ug laing P773 milyones sa General Appropriations Act sa DBM, kini alang magamit sa Covid-19 national health crisis.
“Dito kami naka-focus sa elite athletes. We still have some budget just enough for us to reach December,” matod ni Ramirez isip tubag kang Committee Vice-Chair Jericho Nograles’ sa iyang inquiry sa PSC funds.
“Rest assured that we will do our part to get the funding for this Olympics. All hands are in. Dapat lahat tayo dito. This is the best chance we have,” matod ni House Youth and Sports Development Head Rep. Eric Martinez.
Sa pagkakaron adunay 21 ka atleta nga nag-training sa laing nasod ug 65 pud ang anaa lang sa Pilipinas nangandam para sa Tokyo Olympics.
Adunay upat na ka atleta ang nakakuha na og luna sa Olympics. Ang Pinoyng mga atleta nga naka-qualify na sa kompetisyon mao sila si gymnast Caloy Yulo, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, ug mga boksidor nga sila si Eumir Felix Marcial ug Irish Magno.
Si Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Asian gold medalist Margielyn Didal ug four-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist Kiyomi Watanabe mao ang mga atleta nga gilauman nga mo-qualify.
Matod ni PSC national training director Marc Velasco nga nag-andam na ang PSC sa health protocols ug pag-identify sa unom ka multipurpose venues para sa pagbalik sa training sa mga atleta kon mapaubos na ang quarantine measures.
“We are working with POC (Philippine Olympic Committee) and the NSAs (National Sports Associations) which would endorse athletes that are going to qualify and will be the only ones allowed to enter the Philsports. We would also have support staff, who will also undergo safety protocols like the testing, to assist. They will be inside the Philsports where we also have adequate medical and health facilities,” matod ni Velasco.
