PRO-Western Visayas Covid-19 cases now at 40

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas has recorded a total of 40 cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), including the six patients who were reported over the weekend.

Of the 40, 23 are active cases, 16 have recovered from the disease, and one had died.

Two of the 40 cases are Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP), and 38 are police officers.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-Western Visayas, said the six cases reported over the weekend are the latest addition to the 34 cases reported on August 28.

He said among those who tested positive for the virus last August 28 are: Patient 35, a 39-year old male from Regional Headquarters and a resident of Roxas City, Capiz; Patient 36, a 34-year-old female from Regional Community Affairs and Development Division who lives in Iloilo City; and Patient 37, a 37-year-old female assigned at the Office of the Regional Director and a resident of San Joaquin, Iloilo.

On August 30, those who were found positive for the virus are Patient 38, a 27-year-old male who has been assigned at Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit and a resident of Iloilo City; and Patients 39 and 40, both males who are currently detailed as part of the augmentation with personnel from the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.

Malong said the PRO-Western Visayas personnel who were found positive for coronavirus are now under isolation.

Contact tracing is being conducted to prevent the spread of the virus, he added. (SunStar Philippines)
