Cagayan de Oro Covid-19 cases now at 291

FIVE locally stranded individuals (LSIs), four local cases and a returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF) have tested positive for Sars-CoV-2 over the weekend, bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro to 291.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said all LSIs and ROF cases were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival in the city.

The 282nd case is a 23-year-old male LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Bugo. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 22. He was swabbed on August 27 and the result came out positive on August 29.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 283rd case is a 21-year-old female LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Lapasan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 22. She was swabbed on August 27 and the result came out positive on August 29.

The woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 284th case is a 42-year-old male LSI from Cebu and a resident of Barangay Patag. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 22. He was swabbed on August 27 and the result came out positive on August 29.

The man is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 285th case is a 32-year-old male ROF from the Middle East. The man was swabbed in Cagayan de Oro on August 27 and the result came out positive on August 29.

The 286th case is a 58-year-old female resident of a gated area in Barangay 31. She was swabbed on August 27 in a private testing facility. The result came out positive on August 28.

According to Retuya, the woman showed symptoms since August 25. She has no known comorbidity.

The 287th case is a 70-year-old male resident of Barangay Bayabas. The man had difficulty in breathing and dry cough on August 25.

He was brought to a private hospital on August 28 where he was swabbed. The result came out positive on August 29. His comorbidities were myocardial infarction and asthma.

The man was transferred and admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) in the morning of August 29. However, he died on the same day.

The City Health Office has identified 16 close contacts of the 70-year-old man.

The 288th case is a 43-year-old female resident of Barangay Bugo. According to Retuya, the woman went to a dialysis center in Cagayan de Oro on August 27.

In the dialysis center, the woman complained of chest pain and shortness of breath. She was brought to the NMMC after her dialysis. She was swabbed in the hospital and the result came out positive on August 29.

The City Health Office has identified 34 direct contacts, 16 of whom are family members and 18 are the health care workers of the dialysis center.

The 289th case is a 26-year-old male local Authorized Persons Outside Residence (Apor) and a resident of Barangay Patag. The man, who is a healthcare worker in a private hospital, was exposed to the 255th Covid-positive case on August 22.

The 255th case is a 27-year-old female local Apor, a healthcare worker, resident of Upper Carmen.

The 26-year-old man was under strict home quarantine from August 24 to 30. He was swabbed on August 26 and the result came out positive on August 30.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. At present, he is staying in the isolation unit of the private hospital.

The City Health Office has identified two direct family contacts and his healthcare worker colleagues.

The 290th case is a 45-year-old male LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Nazareth. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 23.

The man was swabbed on August 28 and the result came out positive on August 30. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 291st case is a 19-year-old female LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Pagalungan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 22.

The woman was swabbed on August 28 and the result came out positive on August 30. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

According to Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery, Cagayan de Oro has 84 active cases, six of whom are admitted to the NMMC, 22 are outpatients and 56 are ROFs/LSIs.
