Bacolod police probe slaying of 'drug surrenderer'

THE Bacolod City Police Station 2 is conducting a thorough investigation in the killing of a 48-year-old drug surrenderer in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, in Bacolod City Sunday evening, August 30, 2020.

Police identified the fatality as Norman Sola of Barangay 2.

Police Captain Leo Estopa, chief of Police Station 2, said they are still gathering pieces of evidence to determine the identity of the suspect in the killing of Sola.

The police are also coordinating with the family of the victim.

Investigation showed Sola along with his three companions were on their way home when an unidentified suspect fired at him around 7 p.m. and fled.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds and brought to the Corazon Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive. Sola's three companions were unharmed.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime three empty shells of .9mm pistol.

Estopa said that Sola surrendered during the Oplan Tokhang in the city last year.

The police are looking into personal grudges and illegal drugs as possible motives in the killing of the victim.
