Former SAF member now director of CPPO

THE Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has a new director.

Col. Roderick Mariano has been replaced by Col. Aladdin Collado who used to be with the Special Action Force, a special unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Collado belongs to PNP Academy Class of 1996. His batchmates include Col. Josefino Ligan, Cebu City Police Office director; Col. Arnel Banzon, Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office director; and Col. Jonathan Abella, Mandaue City Police Office director.

According to Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 director, Collado has already assumed his new position but he has been placed on isolation for 14 days in accordance with PRO 7 protocol.

During his stint as CPPO head for almost one year and two months, Mariano had many accomplishments, especially in the police’s war against illegal drugs.

Aside from destroying marijuana plantations in the mountains of Danao City and Balamban, the CPPO also captured several big-time drug suspects.

Ferro said Mariano, who is 50, is up for promotion. He will probably be assigned as Regional Directorial Staff until he attains the position of one-star rank or brigadier general, Ferro said.

“I think the order came from national headquarters... and he is a prospect for a chief of staff, maybe for a much higher position. He is already 50, and in his six last years in the force he should be going up the ladder,” Ferro said in Tagalog.

Meanwhile, the PRO 7 director ordered Mariano’s replacement not to accept any payola from illegal drug and gambling syndicates.

“We have signed the no-take policy for all illegal activities here in Central Visayas. Be vigilant in enforcing the ongoing quarantine protocol while the country is fighting the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Also, take care of CPPO personnel,” Ferro advised Collado in Tagalog. (AYB / PJB)
