THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has acquired P64.55 million worth of vehicles that will be used for administrative purposes.

On the eve of his mandatory retirement, PNP Chief Archie Gamboa led the blessing and turnover ceremony for newly procured 50 vehicles on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The vehicles will be issued to the deputy directors and executive officers of the various PNP directorates, among others.

“That’s around 24, or kung kasama ang DIPO, that's around 30 and I think this is the first time that deputy directors and executive officers who are generals will have their own PNP issued vehicle,” he said.

Police Major General Marni Marcos, director of the Directorate for Comptrollership and chairman of the NHQ-Bids and Awards Committee, said the funds used to purchase the vehicles were sourced from the Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) 2020.

Marcos said the new mobility assets will be distributed to the command group, directorial staff, National Support Units, Office of the Secretary of Interior and Local Government, PNP Peace Process and Development Center, Philippine National Police Academy, and Philippine National Police Training Institute to boost its administrative capabilities.

Gamboa said the acquisition of these additional assets is part of the continuing effort of the PNP leadership and the national government to enhance the modernization program of the PNP. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
