THE number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Angeles City, Pampanga has reached 312, as of August 31, 2020.
The City Government said that of these cases, 175 are active or the patients are under treatment.
No new fatality was recorded but the number of Covid-19 deaths had reached 15 as of August 31.
Of the 312 cases, 122 patients had recovered, according to the local government.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. earlier ordered the banning of gatherings, including birthday parties, wedding, and others to prevent the spread of the virus.
The mayor also directed the Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Colonel Patrick Joyce Sangalang, to enforce strict quarantine protocols and screening of people going to and from the city.
Hundreds of individuals who violated the health protocols were arrested and charged in court, according to Lazatin.
The local chief executive said that 170 of the Covid-19 cases in the city were transmitted locally.
He appealed to the residents to observe minimum health standards to protect themselves from the dreaded disease.
