THE Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC) has closed its offices from September 1 to 2 to conduct disinfection.

In a statement, the company said the disinfection is a precautionary measure to protect customers, employees and suppliers given the possibility of an employee contracting the novel coronavirus.

"While at present, no employee of AEC has tested positive for Covid-19, we do have a possible Covid-19 case among one of our employees," the AEC said in a statement.

AEC said that at present, the said employee, together with his family members, has undergone the Covid-19 swab testing and "we are awaiting the results."

Contact tracing is also being done for isolation of close contacts and monitoring for symptoms.

AEC also assured customers that the concerned employee does not work in the main building of the electric office where they receive customers. They added that the employee is stationed at the back office and rarely leaves his station.

The electric company has also reported the case to the Angeles City Government and has been coordinating with the designated City Government representatives.

"We would like to assure the public that AEC is taking extra measures to ensure the safety of everyone. We enjoin everyone to stay safe and follow the required safety protocols such as the wearing of face masks and face shields, maintaining physical distancing and hand sanitizing when visiting public and high traffic areas," AEC said.
