ZONE 1 and a portion of Zone 2 of Barangay 26 were placed under localized focused containment after a barangay official tested positive for coronavirus.

The barangay official is a 46-year-old female local Authorized Person Outside Residence (Apor).

She complained of loss of sense of smell and taste on August 29. She developed sore throat on September 1 and sought consultation at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC). On September 2, she experienced watery stool.

The woman was swabbed on September 2 and the result came out positive in the evening on the same day. She is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts, three were already transferred to the city isolation unit after they showed symptoms.

According to Nic Jabagat, chief of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD), around 300 families and renters are affected by the containment.

Meanwhile, Zone 1 in Barangay Lumbia was also placed under localized focused containment after it was reported on Thursday, September 3, that a 56-year-old male mobile vendor got infected with the virus.

Food packs were already given to 15 affected families while intensified contact tracing and active health surveillance is ongoing.

The 56-year-old man had colds, cough and fever on August 24. He went to a private clinic in Carmen for consultation. He also took a chest x-ray in a private diagnostic laboratory.

The x-ray result showed that the man has pneumonia. On September 1, he went to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and on September 2 he was swabbed. The result came out positive on the evening of September 2.

The 56-year-old man, at present, is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. The City Health Office has identified nine direct contacts of the man.
