Cagayan de Oro records 17 new Covid-19 cases

TEN local cases, four locally stranded individuals (LSIs), two returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFs), and one Authorized Person Outside Residence (Apor) have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total confirmed cases in Cagayan de Oro to 331.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 10 local cases, nine are close contacts of two previously confirmed Covid-19 patients.

City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said all new LSIs and ROFs cases were immediately brought to the city isolation unit upon arrival in the city.

The 315th case is a 28-year-old male Apor from Cebu. The patient underwent a rapid diagnostic test in Cebu. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 26.

The man was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

He is currently in the city isolation unit and is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 316th case is an 11-year-old male LSI from Davao and a resident of Barangay Bugo. He traveled to Cagayan de Oro via van.

The man was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

Retuya said the 12 cohorts of the man will be extending their quarantine period.

The 317th case is a 20-year-old female LSI from Makati and a resident of Barangay Gusa. She went through a rapid diagnostic test in Makati on July 27 and the result was negative.

The woman arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 27. She was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 318th case is a 52-year-old male LSI from Las Piñas and a resident of Barangay Patag. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 27.

The man was swabbed on September 1 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is asymptomatic and has hypertension with maintenance. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 319th case is a 12-year-old male LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Carmen. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on August 26.

The man was swabbed on September 1 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 320th case is a 29-year-old male ROF from Jamaica and a resident of Barangay Bugo. According to Retuya, the man traveled from Jamaica to the United States, then to Clark International Airport.

He was swabbed at the Clark International Airport upon arrival and the result came out negative on August 24.

The man arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 27. He was swabbed on September 1 and the result came out positive on September 3.

He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 321st case is a 34-year-old male ROF from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. He arrived in Manila on August 17 where he was swabbed and the result was negative.

Retuya said the man stayed in a hotel in Manila while waiting for the result for eight days, from August 17 to 25. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 26.

He was swabbed on September 1 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 322nd case is a 27-year-old female local Apor residing in Macanhan, Barangay Carmen. She is one of the close contacts of the 281st case, the 60-year-old female from Macanhan, Barangay Carmen.

According to Retuya, the 27-year-old woman developed symptoms on August 24 and went to a private hospital for consultation with the 60-year-old woman on August 25.

She stayed in the city isolation unit after the swab test result of the 281st case came out positive on August 28. Together with her is her husband and daughter.

The 27-year-old woman was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 323rd case is a 10-month-old daughter of the 322nd case and one of the close contacts of the 281st case. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 324th case is a 28-year-old female resident of Barangay Gusa. She is the daughter of the 275th case, the 47-year-old female vegetable vendor from Barangay Gusa.

Retuya said the last day of exposure of the 28-year-old woman to the 275th case was on August 24. She stayed in the city isolation unit on August 29 and was swabbed on August 31. The result came out positive on September 3.

The woman is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 325th case is a 28-year-old male resident of Barangay Gusa. He is the husband of the 324th case and the close contact of the 275th case.

The man's last day of exposure to the 275th case was on August 24. He was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 326th case is a 26-year-old male resident of Barangay Gusa. He is the son of the 275th case. His last day of exposure to the 275th case was on August 24.

The man stayed in the city isolation unit on August 29 and was swabbed on August 31. The result came out positive on September 3.

He had a mild cough and was treated. He also has a lung problem and was under medication.

The 327th case is a 17-year-old female resident of Barangay Gusa. She is the daughter of the 275th case. Her last day of exposure was on August 24 and she stayed in the city isolation unit on August 29.

The young lady was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3.

The 328th case is a 31-year-old female from Barangay Gusa. She is the cousin of the 275th case who accompanied the 47-year-old woman to the private hospital for consultation on August 24.

The woman stayed in the city isolation unit on August 29. She was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3.

She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. She is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 329th case is a 16-year-old male resident of Barangay Gusa. He is the son of the 275th case. His last day of exposure was on August 24.

The young man stayed in the city isolation unit and was swabbed on August 31. The result came out positive on September 3. He is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity. He is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The 330th case is a 23-year-old female resident of Barangay Gusa. She is one of the 14 close contacts of the 275th case. She stayed in the city isolation unit on August 29.

The woman was swabbed on August 31 and the result came out positive on September 3. She is asymptomatic and has no known comorbidity.

The 331st case is a 46-year-old female local Apor residing in Barangay 26. According to Retuya, the woman is a barangay official.

She complained of loss of sense of smell and taste on August 29. She developed sore throat on September 1 and sought consultation at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC). On September 2, she experienced watery stool.

The woman was swabbed on September 2 and the result came out positive in the evening on the same day. She is currently staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility.

The City Health Office identified seven direct contacts, three were already transferred to the city isolation unit after they showed symptoms.

Cagayan de Oro has recorded 94 active cases, two of whom are admitted at the NMMC, 41 are outpatients and 51 are ROFs/LSIs.
