NCCA opens grants for art and culture events

THE National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is calling for applications on grants for 2021, proving no pandemic can stop the creative sector from working for arts, culture and tradition.

In a video conference with NCCA Head for Accreditation and Grants Section Christopher Lucindo, Policy Formulation and Program Division Chief Ferdinand Isleta and NCCA National Committee for Northern Luzon Dr. Edwin Antonio, the call for submission of project proposals for 2021 was made enticing artists, artisans and culture bearers to apply.

Antonio said the calling for grants is a testimony to the resiliency of cultural advocates in the Philippines.

The NCCA Competitive Grants Program has three elements:

Project-based, with eligible proponents such as Filipino citizens based in the Philippines, local government units, state universities and colleges, public schools, indigenous peoples’ organizations, peoples’ organizations, government agencies, and civil society organizations can apply by submitting a well-planned project proposal.

Competitive, approval of a project proposal passes through a rigorous and confidential evaluation process based on merit such as quality and relevance to Commission priorities.

Fund Transfer, approved projects are entitled to funding subject to applicable government accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all proposals must demonstrate adherence to minimum public health standards.

All project proposals should be addressed and submitted to the Policy/Plan Formulation and Programming Division (P/PFPD) National Commission for Culture and the Arts Room 5-C, Fifth Floor, NCCA Building 633 General Luna Street, Intramuros 1002 Manila, Philippines Tel No: 8527-2192 (TL) loc. 509 Fax No: 8527-2198 / 8527-2209 / 8527-2194 Email: ppfpd@ncca.gov.ph.

The NCCA is continuing its mandate to fund projects seen in Section 12.a.4 of Republic Act 7356 which authorizes the Commission to give grants to artists and cultural groups which contribute significantly to Filipino’s cultural legacy as means to extend artistic achievement. Further, Section 13.h of the same law mandates the Commission to administer the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts and give grants for the development, protection, preservation and dissemination of Philippine culture and arts.
