SINCE March this year until Monday, September 7, a total of 25 City Government employees already tested positive for Covid-19.
In a live radio interview via Davao City Disaster Radio, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio confirmed 25 employees have tested positive for the virus, although the majority of them have already recovered.
She said patients number 1 to 15, 23, 24 and 25 have already recovered while patients number 16 to 22 are currently quarantined in different temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) in the city.
“Ang facility na ginagamit nato for quarantine, for quarantine gyud na siya. Once mag-positive, mubalhin na na sila didto sa mga quarantine o mga TTMFs for positive patients (Our facilities are really for quarantine use only. Once patients tested positive, they are immediately transferred to the quarantine facility or the TTMFs for positive patients),” said the city mayor.
When asked about the nature of work of the City Government employees, she said it was early April when one of the first patients who is from Operation Center (Opcen) was hit by the virus . Some also work in the TTMFs while another is a personnel of the Davao City Central 911.
“Once mag-positive na sila, as with all the other patients, ginakuhaan sila og history sa atong contact tracing team and sugdan na contact trace sa mga members sa team,” the mayor said.
SunStar Davao on September 5, published a report where the mayor expressed her frustration over the low compliance of several city workers on the basic health protocols.
"Kanang taga-City Hall ako ray gibantayan ana nila. Kon naa si Inday Sara, manago na silang tanan ug magsunod na sila sa health protocol pero pag wala si Inday Sara, magtsismis na sila dira sa hallway," the mayor said in an interview via 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.
(I noticed that City Hall employees are always watching me. When Inday Sara [Duterte] is around, they will abide by the health protocol, then they will go back to the hallways once I'm no longer around.)
Even in her earlier interviews, the mayor would remind everyone to stop treating her like the virus and would only wear their masks and practice social distancing when they see her coming.
