Central Visayas gets new police chief as part of PNP revamp

AS PART of the ongoing major revamp in the Philippine National Police, Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro will be replaced by Brigadier General Jonnel Estomo as the new director of Central Visayas Police Regional Office (PRO-7) effective September 9, 2020.

Ferro has been appointed as the acting director of Integrated Police Operations for Southern Luzon, replacing Major General Celso Pestaño who was designated as the head of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM).

Pestaño took over the post vacated by Major General Joselito Vera Cruz, who was promoted to chief Directorial Staff and the fourth member of the PNP Command Group.

Brigadier General Joseph Ulysses Gohel will replace Estomo as director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group.

Brigadier General Edgar Monsalve will replace Gohel as the director of the PNP Intelligence Group.

Taking Monsalve’s post is Brigadier General Benjamin Acorda Jr.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Alex Sintin Jr. was named acting director of the National Police Training Institute (NPTI) while Brigadier General Jimili Macaraeg was designated as director of the Logistic Support Service (LSS) and Major General Marni Marcos Jr. is named as the new director for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM).

Marcos will replace Colonel Emma Libunao, who was transferred to the Directorate for Police Community Relations.

Brigadier General Pascual Muñoz will now be the regional director of PRO-4B (Mimaropa), replacing Brigadier General Nicerio Obaob.

Brigadier General Danilo Macerin was assigned as the executive officer of the Directorate for Operation.

Brigadier General Rhoderick Armamento, deputy director for administration of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) will be switching posts with Brigadier General Sterling Raymund Blanco who is assigned at the Office of the chief PNP.

Two other police colonels were appointed to new positions. Colonel Leo Francisco is now assigned at PRO 3 (Central Luzon) while Colonel Roel Acidre, will be the acting deputy regional director for administration in PRO-Caraga and Colonel Celso Bael was designated as acting executive officer for the Directorate for Intelligence.

New PNP Chief Camilo Cascolan ordered the reorganization to take effect on Wednesday, September 9.

During his two-month stint, Cascolan is eyeing to implement a three-point strategy in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic, anti-illegal drugs, and issues on internal security and insurgency.

Under this strategy, Cascolan aims to forge stronger ties between the community and police as well as intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and high-value targets. (SunStar Philippines)
