Arthaland tops off largest multi-certified green office in the Philippines

ARTHALAND, the country’s foremost developer of sustainable and green properties, reaches another milestone as it celebrates the structural topping off of Cebu Exchange, the largest multi-certified green office tower in the country.

With approximately 11 hectares of gross floor area, Cebu Exchange is set to be a benchmark development with state-of-the-art sustainable building features, green amenities and a diverse retail component—a well-balanced business ecosystem. It is located in Cebu IT Park, a prime and strategic address known as a global IT and BPO hotspot.

The topping off was a feat in itself being the first virtual topping off ceremony by a real estate developer in the country. The event was well-attended remotely and broadcast over social media and video conferencing.

The cutting-edge project will have a long list of unique features in line with its commitment to sustainability: improved indoor air quality, building envelope optimization and a 100 percent renewable energy source for power, just to name a few.

Landscaped with native and endemic plant species, the tower itself has over 2,600 square meters of vast and open green spaces, which include the terrace garden, sky park, penthouse deck areas and several other interactive leisure areas like the potager (ornamental garden) with organically grown vegetables and herbs.

The building will also have its own independent greywater recycling system and materials recovery facility integrated into it. The Cebu Exchange will prioritize low-emission building materials, low-voltage lighting, water-saving plumbing systems and energy-saving air-conditioning systems.

“In addition to our unwavering commitment to these sustainable features, we continue to deliver projects on time and with the highest standards for excellence in design and quality,” said Jaime C. González, vice chairman and president of Arthaland.

Just as originally scheduled, the handover of Phase 1 units will commence this month. Despite the ongoing pandemic, construction is still in full swing, that is, with stringent health and safety protocols in place such as pre-work testing and onsite lodging for staff.

González added: “We look forward to becoming an integral part of the vibrant Cebu community. During these trying times, we hope Cebu Exchange makes a strong case for the need for more sustainable developments.”

Even before its completion, Cebu Exchange is on track to be a multi-certified development, both here in the Philippines and abroad—with several awards to boot, notably, Best Office High Rise Development in the 2019 Japan International Property Awards and Best Commercial Landscape Architectural Design at the 2019 PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards.
