ANGELES CITY -- Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. handed over 3,000 basic hygiene items to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), as part of its ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lazatin said the City Government has been gearing up to promote oral hygiene and raise awareness on how communities can protect themselves from the ongoing pandemic, as well as to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

“We have been doubling our efforts to fight Covid-19, especially now that the city is experiencing a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases,” Lazatin said.

“We all know that one way to reduce risk from acquiring the virus is to stay clean and healthy — this is why we made the initiative to provide a first-line defense to our constituents, even to persons deprived of liberty, such as personal hygiene kits,” he added.

Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas said the City, under the Office of the City Mayor’s funds, allotted P1.7 million to purchase the 3,000 personal hygiene kits.

Angeles City Police Officer Colonel Joyce Patrick Sangalang personally received the 3,000 hygiene kits on September 8, 2020, from Mayor Lazatin and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

Manuel shared that the hygiene kits include a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, face towel and bath soap.

“Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure the safety and health of BJMP personnel and PDLs inside the jail,” Manuel said.
