Baguio representative welcomes Cascolan appointment

THE appointment of Lieutenant General Camilo Cascolan as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was welcomed by Baguio City Congressman Marquez Go, Cascolan being a native of the country’s summer capital.

In his weekly radio program at DzEQ Radyo Pilipinas, Go assured his support to the new PNP chief.

“We are very happy that General Camilo Cascolan was appointed as the new chief of the Philippine National Police and we hope that he can really make things happen for the country, especially here in Baguio and the Cordillera Administrative Region,” he said.

President Rodrigo Duterte designated Cascolan as the 24th chief of the police force with the rank of police general effective September 2 and will remain chief PNP until his retirement in November this year.

Go said the support in passing the 2021 proposed budget of the PNP will be part of the proposed budget of the president for the coming year.

“In terms of the budget of the PNP, we will be there to support him so that they can improve the administration of the PNP not only in Baguio City, CAR but for the whole country,” Go added.

Cascolan hails from Baguio City and is the first Cordilleran to assume the highest post of the PNP organization.

Cascolan finished elementary at the Maryknoll Convent School and his secondary education at the University of the Philippines-Baguio High School. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Sinagtala" Class of 1986 together with past PNP chiefs Archie Gamboa, Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa and Oscar Albayalde.
