Over 420,000 beneficiaries get 2nd tranche of SAP

OVER 420,000 low-income households in Central Visayas have received the second tranche of cash emergency aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office said Thursday, September 10.

The DSWD-Central Visayas said it was already able to cover a total of 420,340 SAP 2 beneficiaries, distributing around P3 billion worth of cash.

It added that of the 420,340 SAP 2 recipients, a total of 95,271 are waitlisted families or those qualified low-income families who were not included and provided with emergency subsidy during the first tranche; a total of 323,660 are non-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) low-income household beneficiaries; while 1,409 are public utility drivers endorsed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Central Visayas for SAP.

These cover around 65.30 percent of the total number of target beneficiaries of the DSWD-Central Visayas for SAP 2, excluding those 4Ps household members.

Based on the data that Shalaine Lucero, DSWD-Central Visayas assistant director, provided to SunStar Cebu, the agency's clean list of beneficiaries include a total of 131,403 waitlisted beneficiaries, 510,384 non-4Ps household members, and 1,840 drivers. (WBS)
