TODAY marks the 12th year anniversary of SunStar Bacolod. With the huge disruption of the pandemic in our daily operation, we are celebrating this milestone without fanfare. As of this writing, we are on skeletal force and 70 percent of our employees are on a work from home setup. We can't even gather our team for a simple lunch celebration as it would be irresponsible to do such. And while it would look like the pandemic has gotten the best of us, I say it has not deterred us one bit from being faithful to our mission as documenters of local history and as storytellers of the truth and nothing but the truth.
We would like to give special thanks to all our advertisers, our news
sources, and our subscribers. You made us survive even during these dark times in print media industry.
On a personal note, I would like to thank my editorial and business teams for toiling very hard amidst the storms we face in the media world. You have continuously forged a brand of excellence in journalism both in print and digital platforms. With all the innovations we have recently embarked on, you have clearly established our significance in the development of our city and this province. It is a great honor to be working with brilliant minds.
To our columnists and our local leaders, my utmost respect for your level-headedness and openness to accept criticisms and suggestions proactively. Indeed, the healthy exchange of views without threat or intimidation shows just how civil our stakeholders conduct themselves in our platform. We recommit to be as fair and as objective as we can as our way of thanking you for trusting us all through the years.
As we get more seasoned in the media industry, challenges are also taking different shapes and on increasing intensity as well. Rest assured that our collective experiences backed by a very supportive central management are making us more resilient and ever more committed to perfecting our craft in providing timely and accurate news and views to ultimately empower the local communities we serve.
Yes, we are getting stronger ultimately because of your unwavering trust and support. We are all in this together and in the long run we are going to be an even much better society because 12 years ago today we cemented this partnership in building free and more informed Negrenses.
Happy 12th anniversary, SunSar Bacolod!
