Ex-NegOr town vice mayor shot dead

A FORMER town vice mayor in Negros Oriental was shot and killed by two motorcycle-riding suspects in Barangay Poblacion, Pamplona Wednesday night, September 9, 2020.

The victim was identified by the police as former Pamplona vice mayor Kent Zerna Divinagracia, 45, who later worked as the town's civil security officer.

Chief Master Sargeant Edilberto Euroba III, public information officer of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, on Thursday said Divinagracia, who succumbed to gunshot wounds, died at a private hospital in Dumaguete City where he was brought for treatment of his injuries.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim was on his way home when he was fired upon by a gunman who fled on board a motorcycle with another suspect.

Divinagracia was reportedly shot three times by the gunman.

The Pamplona town police have yet to establish the motive in the killing of Divinagracia, who also used to serve the town as a municipal councilor.
