La Trinidad reaffirms stand vs illegal chicken dung

THE local government unit of La Trinidad reiterated its stand against the illegal sale, disposal and storage of chicken dung in the town.

Mayor Romeo Salda, together with municipal and barangay officials, municipal employees, and police personnel, issued this week notices of closure to five chicken dung operators in Barangay Shilan.

Salda said they have been filing notices previously but chicken dung traders did not stop.

The town officials implemented the notices of closure order as the illegal chicken dung operations are not allowed in the municipality.

Salda reiterated Administrative Order 008 series of 2010 issued by former Mayor Gregorio Abalos Jr. in 2010 prohibiting the sale, disposal, and storage of chicken dung in the town.

The mayor said the trading and storage of chicken dung within the municipality as a public nuisance was affirmed by the Court of Appeals.

Salda added the application for the issuance of an Injunctive Relief in the case of Timog et al vs the Municipality of La Trinidad was denied by RTC Judge Danilo Camacho, adding a motion for reconsideration was likewise denied.

On Friday, September 11, the mayor said they encounter problems on one of the owners of the chicken dung who still insists to continue its operations. He said he had ordered the personnel of the municipal police station to enforce the closure order anew.

A public consultation is set on September 12 to discuss issues and concerns on the chicken dung trading at Tacdian Elementary Grounds, Shilan, La Trinidad.

This is not the first time for the Municipal Government to call for the stoppage of the chicken dung operations, as in the previous years, it also issued permanent closure orders and reiterated AO 08-2010, and installed yellow lines and barriers.

Chicken dung traders, however, replaced the barriers with their own barrier and resumed trading in Shilan.
